Become a customer
Every week, the Food Bank provides food packages free of charge to customers who cannot make ends meet financially for a short or longer period. You are eligible for a food package if the income remaining after deduction of fixed costs is less than the ‘standard amount’. The standard amount is the amount that a household has left to live on after deduction of fixed costs, with a maximum for fixed costs, such as for telephony, internet, TV and energy costs.
The table below shows the standard amounts pre-calculated depending on the number of children (“Aantal kinderen”) for single (“Alleenstaand”) or married / cohabiting couples (“Echtpaar of samenwonend”):
Aantal kinderen | Alleenstaand | Echtpaar of samenwonend |
---|---|---|
0 | € 315,-- | € 430,-- |
1 | € 430,-- | € 545,-- |
2 | € 524,-- | € 660,-- |
3 | € 660,-- | € 775,-- |
4 | € 775 | € 890,-- |
5 | € 890,-- | € 1005,-- |
6 | € 1005,-- | € 1120, -- |
7 | € 1120,-- | € 1235,-- |
How can I become a customer?
Call or e-mail the “Buurtteam” in your district and you will be called back as soon as possible.
See overview of the “Buurtteams” per district.
What should I bring to an intake interview?
During the intake interview, based on criteria of the national food bank, we assess whether you are eligible for a food package. For this, we need some information from you so please bring the following documents:
- Identification
- Three months of consecutive bank statements *
- Proof of debts and repayments and any debt rescheduling documents
*based on bank statements, access is also given to other financial information.
People who already are in a “budgeting program” (being in debt repayment) and receive money from the budget manager do not have to bring proof of income and expenses, but the budget management statements of the past 3 months.
If your request for a food package has been approved, you can pick it up at an location (uitgiftepunt) in your area. We have 12 distribution points spread throughout the city.
